Quilceda Creek set the benchmark for Washington Cabernet Sauvignon in 2012, an ideal vintage that produced wines of power and elegance. Winemaker Paul Golitzin blended fruit from four vineyards to attain the distinctive flavors, polished texture and vibrant balance that are the hallmarks of this wine. The bulk of the grapes came from Horse Heaven Hills, including the Golitzin family’s Palengat Vineyard and neighboring Champoux Vineyard. The Klipsun Vineyard on Red Mountain provided additional structure and power.

April 2021:
Dark, robust and juicy in the glass, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is still firm with generous oak essence on the nose with elements of Chambord, plum reduction and blackberry jus. Full-bodied, the palate offers a juicy, fruit-forward expression with an intense weight and volume for Cabernet, which evolves to show elevated alcohol across the mid-palate. The wine continues to offer a hedonistic and pleasurable expression and shows the first signs of the wine going from young, vibrant and juicy to matured, tertiary and elegant.
 
June 2015:
The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is brilliant. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, mostly from the famous Champoux Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills, it was aged all in new oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered. It offers a captivating bouquet of black cherry liqueur and cassis-like fruit, Asian spice, coffee bean and lead pencil shavings to go with a full-bodied, ripe, seamless and hedonistic style on the palate. One of the more approachable, opulent examples of this cuvee, it has no hard edges, plenty of tannin and a massive, heady finish.
