One 750ml Bottle of the Excellent and Very Rare 1978 Vintage of Château Margaux. Château Margaux is the Famous First Growth Estate with the Most Seductive and Fabulously Perfumed Bouquet in all of its Great Vintages, which are Frequent. This Rare 1978 Vintage was an Excellent one- The 1978 Vintage was an Excellent one for all of Bordeaux. This 1978 Château Margaux has been rated a High 94 Points by The Wine Advocate Magazine . Here is their Review , " 94 out of 100 ............... Although the 1978 is a more Powerful, Fuller-Bodied style of Margaux, it is less fruity than the 1979. The 1978 's nose has moved from one of Ripe Fruit and spicy Oak, to Tarry, Truffle, Earthy Aromas that come across as Masculine and Meaty. Nevertheless, this is a Rich, Full-Bodied, Concentrated Margaux that only suffers in comparison with the Great Vintages produced under the Mentzelopoulos regime. Some of its rusticity may be due to tannins that were not totally ripe during the harvest. In any event, it remains one of the Few Great Wines from the 1978 Vintage. While I initially thought it would be Fully Mature within two decades of the Vintage, it will still Benefit from Years of Cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2030. " - The Wine Advocate Magazine. Château Margaux, a 1er Cru Classé property, has been owned by the Mentzelopoulos family since 1978 - since then it has consistently produced the Finest Wines in the Médoc. The large 90 hectare property produces over 30,000 cases per year and is located in the centre of the Margaux Appellation. The Vineyards (Cabernet Sauvignon 75%, Merlot 20%, Cabernet Franc 2%, Petit Verdot 3%) lie on a sandy-stone topsoil, beneath which is to be found gravel and then clay. The Wine is Fermented in a mixture of stainless steel vats and oak casks and is matured for 18 months in 100% new Oak Barriques. These are Sublime and Immaculately Crafted Clarets which display Extraordinary Fragrance, Refinement and a Ravishingly Seductive Perfume. In the past, the Wine was described as Feminine in character but in the last twenty years Château Margaux has Displayed more Weight and Concentration and today Represents the Perfect Balance between Finesse and Power. This Rare Bottle is in Mint Condition and is in Commercial Storage. Thanks for looking.
