Tight and focused, with a firm, structured core of currant, anise, cedar, cherry, mineral and plum flavors. An enormously complex and concentrated wine that needs time.

The stunning 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon reveals surprising sweetness and accessibility for a wine from this vintage. The opaque purple color is followed by a full-bodied wine with outstanding richness and depth. Cabernet Sauvignon's blackberry/cassis character is well-represented, and the oak has been completely submerged beneath the wine's mass of fruit, glycerin, and extract. There are no hard edges, and the tannin does not suffer from any of the rusticity this vintage is capable of producing.
