Listing Details

One Extremely Rare 1.5 Liter Magnum Bottle of the Excellent and Highly-Rated 1975 Vintage of Château Latour-à-Pomerol. Château Latour-à-Pomerol is a Top Growth Property in Pomerol and Produces Wines of Power, Perfume and Excellent Finesse. One of the Leading Pomerol Properties and now Run and administered by Jean-Pierre Moueix of Pétrus and Trotanoy Fame. It consists of just under 8 hectares of Vineyards Split into Two Plots: the First is Known as Les Grandes Vignes and is located on a Gravel Outpost next to the Church of Pomerol. The Second Plot Lies on Sandy, Lighter Soils and is to be Found on the Western Side of the Pomerol Plateau. The grapes (90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc) are Hand Harvested and then Fermented in Temperature Controlled Concrete Vats. The Wine is then Matured in Small Oak Barrels (50% new) for 18 months. It is Bottled Unfiltered. Latour à Pomerol Produces Sumptuous, Meaty, Concentrated and Full-Bodied Pomerols that Often Require at least 15+ years of Cellaring, to show their Best. In the context of other Top - Class Pomerols they Remain Underpriced. This 1975 Vintage has been Rated a High * * * * * - 5 stars, by Clive Coates , author of ' The Vine ' , and many other Books on Wine and on Bordeaux. Here is his Review of the 1975 Vintage, and some additional information on Château Latour-à-Pomerol, by Clive Coates, author of ' Grands Vins - The Finest Chateaux of Bordeaux and their Wines.' The Wine : Latour-à-Pomerol is a Full Wine with a Concentration which comes from the Dominance of Old Vines in the Encepagement. I find the Power of the Wine has more in Common with Lafleur and Indeed with Petrus itself than it has with, say Lafleur-Petrus or Trotanoy. Recent Vintages, as a result of the Vineyard not having had to be almost completely Replanted like Lafleur-Petrus, have been very Consistent. Those like 1961, 1970, 1971 and 1975 are Real Blockbusters. I would Certainly Class Latour-à-Pomerol with the Very Best Pomerols if not quite at the Top of the Tree. 1975 Vintage : Medium-Full Colour, some Maturity. Closed on the Nose, even a bit Ungenerous at First. Fullish, some Tannin. Started off a Bit Burly and ungainly, but one could see an Underlying Richness, if a slight absence, of Style or Charm. Developed in the Glass Acquiring an Almost Chocolately Fruit. Rich. Plenty of Depth. Very Good- Very Good Indeed. Now-2015.' - Clive Coates. This Rare Magnum is in Mint Condition and is in Commercial Storage. Thank you for looking.
